Watching your teen struggle can be painful, confusing, and even frightening. Do we step in or step back? As parents, it’s hard to know what to do to help. It’s possible to find a way forward, together. Connecting through curiosity creates the trust and compassion teens need as they grow toward independence.
Adolecense is a time of building and unbuilding the self; their brains are undergoing tremedous change, equal to what we can see on the outside. Maybe your teen is showing anger or withdrawing, feeling overwhelmed by stress, self-harming, or having thoughts of suicide. Adding neurodivergence into the mix makes things even more complex.
As a relational therapist, I work with teens and parents/caregivers, individually & together, to foster openness and safety. From there, we highlight strengths and what is working, explore deeper patterns and stories that shape how you relate to each other and create real connection.
Seeking support is admirable.
